It would make sense to just put the 3.6L Pentastar, found in many other Chrysler vehicles, in the new Renegade and call it the SRT version (or something of the sort) and equip it to the 6-speed manual that is already found in the Wrangler. It could be a capable, powerful, unibody , mini-Unlimited Wrangler hoonmobile off-roader for budget-conscious buyers.
EDIT: I know the Pentastar may be too big for the engine bay, but this is America. We figure it out.

I don't think it would fit. But a turbo 2.0L 4 would...

That is a valid point, but this is America.

Put it in the back! A modern Jeep branded Fiat 600 Abarth anybody?

Too sissy to buy an actual Wrangler? You do realize that 75% of Wrangers are bought by 38 year old female divorcees.

But don't you think that they'll prefer the "cuteness" of a mini-Wrangler/Renegade more?

No, their alimony check will cover the 4 door model that they can make a convertible.
And don't start with the glorified sunroof on the mini one.

Okay, fair points. Agreed.

A 300 HP one would be bad ass though....but really...would you shell out somewhere near 40 big ones for a Kia Soul with nice leather and big engine? Because that is essentially what it is. And I bet it would come in the 35-40K tops price range.

Ahem, this was my idea. Although you made a post about it first. Lol

We can both complain about it if Jeep ever decides to steal our idea.

Someone should send this to Ralph Gilles on Twitter. He is generally pretty active on there.

Awesome idea! That would be cool if he saw this. I don't have a Twitter though.
